Enable to log into brand new switch

Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:57 pm

Hi all,

I've just unboxed a brand new CRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM but I'm unable to log into it, error message "wrong username or password"

The password on the sticker under the switch and the one on the leaflet inside the box corresponds to one another

I've tried connecting with Winbox, Webfig and SSH

with Windox I tried via IP address and MAC address to no avail

I have reset the switch but same problem

I'm now at a loss, what should I do to connect to this switch ?

thanks for your help

If you reset the switch, the password is now blank.

What likely happened before that is that you didn't read the near-microscopic 3dpi print on the password label properly, confusing 0 with O or something similar.

I've tried to log in without password but it didn't work so I guess the switch wasn't properly reset

so I tried replacing what I thought was a zero with an O and boom i'm in !

thanks for your suggestion tangent

Why each MT devices doesn't come with a magnifying glass is beyond me. :-)

yet i've took a picture of the sticker and zoomed in quite a bit, the O letter really look like a zero

MT should avoid the O letter in its passwords altogether

It seems that new devices have passwords without these "ambiguous" characters:
